I'd recommend this book (and all of Christina Lauren's novels) for anyone who likes a great story with a bit of R-rated-ness thrown in I'd classify these books in the "New Adult" genre. Because Lola is under so much pressure currently, though, once they ( spoiler?) get together, issues start to arise, and Lola isn't sure if she can handle the intensity of their relationship at that point. Oliver and Lola are a bit more nerdy than the other couples, though, and it's kind of what makes them connect, too - he runs a comic book store, and she writes graphic novels. I loved these two together as a couple, although I've loved the other couples in Sweet Filthy Boy and Dirty Rowdy Thingtoo. She also has a second graphic novel due soon that is stressing her out. to meet with the producers, director, etc. Lola and Oliver have been "best friends" since the night in Vegas, but both of them secretly - or not so secretly - have huge crushes on the other.Īt the same time, Lola's career is blowing up, because her graphic novel is being turned into a movie, and she has to make frequent trips to L.A. Lola is probably the most sensitive of the group, and we learn more about her past in this book her father was deployed to Afghanistan, and when he returned, he wasn't the same, and her mother abandoned the two of them.

And sometimes a dark wild night in Vegas isn’t just the end of a day, but the beginning of a bright new life. Sometimes seeing what’s right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. After all, she’s not the kind of girl who likes all that attention, but maybe she’s the kind who’ll eventually like him. When Lola’s graphic novel starts getting national acclaim - and is then fast-tracked for a major motion picture - Oliver steps up to be there for her whenever she needs him. He knows what he wants with her now…and it’s far outside the friend zone. So why ruin a good thing?Įven as geek girls fawn over him, Oliver can’t get his mind off what he didn’t do with Lola when he had the chance.

More at home in her studio than in baring herself to people, Lola’s instinctive comfort around Oliver nearly seems too good to be true. In reality, Lola’s wanted Oliver since day one - and over time has only fallen harder for his sexy Aussie accent and easygoing ability to take her as she comes. If they’d doubled-down on that mistake, their “Just Friends” situation might not be half as great as it is now. Lola and Oliver like to congratulate themselves on having the good sense not to consummate their drunken Las Vegas marriage.
